The small RAF section is sponsored by Headquarters Air Cadets and, in common with the community-based Air Training Corps, follows a syllabus with a more technical emphasis. As well as learning teamwork, and map and compass skills, and target shooting, everyone learns all about flying and engineering, and everything that is required to safely take part in activities on airfields.
There are opportunities for everyone to experience gliding and powered flights. From 16 years of age, young people have the opportunity to learn how the fly gilders themselves, and from 17 years of age, there is the same opportunity for powered planes.
Every year, we take part in a competition against the other RAF Sections in the area.
