Foundation Phase Return (Feb 2021)

  • This will be in place for the initial FP return and will be reviewed and changed when more primary pupils return.

  • N/R and Y1/2 ‘bubbles’ will be kept separate as much as possible.

  • Pupils will enter and exit building via classroom doors rather than middle entrance.

  • Y 1/2 will use Y3/4 toilets upstairs and have more scheduled toilet times.

  • N/R will use normal toilets but will not be sent to queue by the door to keep the area clear.

  • Y1/2 will use Y4 cloakroom, N/R will use their own cloak room but must not CONGREGATE. Staff to prepare children within the classroom.

  • Book bags and reading books will NOT be sent home – class teachers will provide further reading guidance via Seesaw.

  • Pupils may bring in a warm jumper as windows will be open as much as possible to increase ventilation – please ensure jumpers are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

  • Children will wash their hands on entering the building, before eating, after eating, when changing the area they are playing in, before going outside, when coming back indoors as well as at any other time it is necessary

Outdoor Resources

  • N/R will have access to FP garden during the morning.

  • Y1/2 will have access to FP garden during the afternoon.

  • Children can access their shelters at anytime, but if it is not their garden session they MUST stay under their shelter to use their own resources.

  • Sessions within the vegetable garden will be at different times.

  • N/R will have access to little pen yard all day.

  • Digging pit will be CLOSED.

  • Each class will have a separate construction/small world toy box.

  • Separate chalk boxes will be used.

  • N/R only will use the tricycles, Y1/2 can use easy riders if needed.

  • Soap must be used within all water play.

  • Any toys that are put into a child’s mouth will immediately be disinfected.

Indoor Resources

  • As last term there will be no dressing up, Y1/2 will also remove their roleplay area to the outside classroom this term.

  • No playdough will be available UNLESS the group have made it themselves, it can then be thrown away at the end of the session.

  • NO soft toys will be used as these cannot be easily cleaned.

  • Soap must be used within all water play.

  • Any toys that are put into a child’s mouth will immediately be disinfected.

  • Cleaning of resources to take place as frequently as possible.

Before requesting a test you must have at least one of the following symptoms:

  1. a new continuous cough

  2. a high temperature

  3. loss of or change to sense of smell or taste


If you develop one of these symptoms follow the self-isolation guidance.

The test is only effective for those who are experiencing coronavirus symptoms and needs to be taken in the first 5 days of having symptoms. It only checks if you have coronavirus right now and not if you have already had the virus.

Some parents have been directed to phone their GP for a test – the correct process is below.

Parents / Guardians can apply for a test by calling the free number 119 between the hours of 7am to 11pm.  People with hearing or speech difficulties can call 18001 119. This service is available to assist parents / guardians through the process of booking and taking a test but cannot provide clinical advice. If you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home or if your condition gets worse, or your symptoms do not get better after 7 days, use the 111 online coronavirus service.
